If you played defense on varsity during the 2015 season, you heard me repeatedly refer to Notre Dame’s Matt Landis as the best defenseman in nation. Just the other day, Landis was named a finalist for the Tewaaraton Award – essentially lacrosse’s version of the Heisman Trophy. Out of the 25 finalists, he is only one of two defensemen named.

Winter Park. That’s it. When answering the question as to how many OCPS schools in the Metro Conference, East or West, have ever won four district titles in a row, Winter Park was the only answer. Not anymore. Following an 18-6 victory in the district championship final against rival Olympia, the West Orange Warriors now join the Wildcats as the only OCPS schools to ever achieve four-peat status
It wasn't easy; because if it was, more schools would have done it.
|Bailey Sarp will graduate as the greatest goal scorer in school history.|
Bailey Sarp made his varsity debut on May 8, 2012. He was the top-scoring freshman midfielder on JV who got the postseason call-up. In the district semi-final game versus Lake Minneola, Sarp cranked in his first and only varsity goal of the season. One goal his freshman year, which makes what he would go on to accomplish all the more impressive.

|Sarp and Artope set the new record for goals in a season.|
It couldn't have been more perfect: Two seniors tied for the lead in goals scored with 70 each; both on the verge of breaking the school record for goals in a season; both about to play in their final district championship game. That was the scene attackmen Lane Artope and Bailey Sarp found themselves in as they stepped onto the field ready for the opening face-off against rival Olympia. The two-man season-long journey towards the top of the record book reached its apex in the duo’s most important game of the year, one that could very well have been the last of their careers.
