2017 Schedule Released

A promising 2017 Warrior squad will have to circumnavigate through a difficult schedule once again in the spring against some of the best competition in Central Florida.

Making matters more difficult for the Warriors will be having to play 12 of their 18 scheduled opponents on the road. The 2015 shutdown of West Orange's field has created a ripple effect in 2017, leading to the uneven amount of home and away match ups.

Nonetheless, the Warriors will have to persevere if they hope to return to their winning ways in both their district and the West Metro Conference.

West Orange will have to travel to Apopka for their first meeting against the Blue Darters since dropping the 2016 district championship game to their rivals. Some may say this game will be a preview of a potential district title match up. However, the emergence of Montverde Academy and Lake Minneola out of Lake County has made the district much more competitive and tougher to predict in 2017. A chance for the Warriors' fifth district crown in six years may be the most difficult to earn.

Any hope of winning a West Metro Conference title means the Warriors must get by rival Dr. Phillips. The Panthers have had the Warriors' number the past three years, with DP taking all five games played in that time span. While the 2017 senior class looks to prove they are the most talented in school history, they also teeter with the ignominious fact that they could be the only four-year class to have never defeated Dr. Phillips.

The Warriors' schedule outside of the district and conference may be the most difficult yet in Coach Baker's 11 seasons as head coach. Road trips to East Metro Conference powers Winter Park, Boone and Timber Creek will test the Warriors as the senior class is only 1-7 against the trio of teams in the last three years. West Orange will also travel down to south Florida for a return game against a strong Martin County squad.

West Orange will stay busy over their spring break, as well. The final home game of the season will see 2010 Warrior alum Nathan Snitz come home in his first year at the helm of West Boca. The Warriors will then take on the Hawken School out of Ohio at a neutral site, the Lake County Sports Complex.

The final week of the regular season will be a true test for the Warriors' hopes in making a run in the state playoffs. First, WO will travel to Lake Mary before ending the season at Bishop Moore. Both perennial powers have been tough historically for the Warriors. The Rams have never lost to WO and the Hornets will look to avenge last year's loss, the first for Bishop Moore against the Warriors in 20 years.
